So we just had a feeding that lasted from 12 to 2 am. We checked Kamal into the nursery at 9:45 pm and went to sleep about 10:30 pm. At midnight the nurse brought Kamal in for feeding. She informed us that he has gone from losing 7% of his body weight to 8% (again 10% is the number we don't want to hit or they won't let us take him home) Hema tried feeding him but kept having the same issue as before which is Kamal falling asleep seconds after he starts feeding. Hema called the nurse at 12:20 am to ask for help but the nurse didn't come until 1 am due to an emergency. When she arrived we informed her of our situation and she told us if he falls asleep we need to mess with him or annoy him until he wakes up. We tried this method and from 1 am to 1:35 am he finally started feeding. Basically I stood there and pulled on his hands and messed with his head by rubbing it everytime he stopped nursing which would be literally 10 seconds later. At 1:35 am I then took Kamal and started burping him. He's a very gassy baby and needs burping after every meal. At around 1:50 am we swaddled him and took him to the nursery. As I finish this blog it's 2:08 am and we have the pleasure of feeding our little bundle of joy at 4 am so time for us to get some sleep. Till next time, goodnight.

Oh! Nas was the same way! The 2 hour sessions were sooo tough. "Messing" with him seemed so extreme, but it needed to be done. You are both doing so great, I'm so proud!
Stella did same... I would unswaddle her and take off her clothes, to make her uncomfortable. She also had jaundice. She was borderline on weight gain but they let me take her home. Kamal is so cute! No sleep for the next 2 years... you get used to it... ;)
